Voice Aloud Reader is a very good text reading application. And if you want the program to read a specific paragraph, you just need to tap it twice with your finger to jump directly there. Once the application starts reading out loud, you can adjust the volume, intonation, and reading speed. New voices will be added automatically in updates, so you won't have to look for them yourself. In the Voice Aloud Reader settings you can choose the language as well as the type of voice you want to play if there are several available for that language. In theory, the application can read PDF and HTML too, but it usually works better with TXT. To use Voice Aloud Reader, first you have to download the text you want onto the device's memory, in plain text format if possible. There a many Universal apps now, but if you look at the MAc Update page for them, there is no indication that they are Universal and requirements still say Intel-64. As I"ve been telling MU for several months you need to come up with a system/policy for how to document and catalog Universal and/or ARM only apps. The download you are hosting currently as of this date is the ARM version. VLC is now available in separate Intel and ARM (Apple Silicon) versions, with DIFFERENT versioning schemes. ![]()
